Daniel Fast Drinks
Cantaloupe Tonight Melon Smoothie
I came across this recipe from the Vegan Planet Cookbook called Cantaloupe Tonight Melon Smoothie. I was looking for something to have as a fruit snack, or eat for breakfast. My teenage son loves smoothies, and when you restrict dairy, it's hard to find something that will satisfy you, unless you use soy milk. Here's what's in the recipe:
1/2 medium-size cantaloupe, seeded and cut from the rind.
1/2 cup orange juice
Juice of 2 limes (taste before you add all the juice at once)
1 medium-size, banana, peeled and cut into chunks
Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)
our addition: 2 cups of ice cubes - makes it like a frozen ice drink.
Mix all in a blender, and serve. Serves 2

These are perfect for the Daniel Diet because of the high protein in the soy milk. If you are not used to drinking soy milk, fruit smoothies are great for you to try out.
I am a big fan of Magnolia Soy Milk (do you have that over there?). Be careful when choosing the Soy Milk, you don't want something that is "too processed". i.e addition of preservatives, sugar or chemicals...
These are the ingredients...
1/2 cup soy milk
1/2 cup frozen berries
Place all ingredients in blender and blend until smooth.
My favorite snack is my natural peanut butter mix on bananas. I usually only eat a half a banana with a teaspoon of my mix for each snack. I mix together a large jar of natural peanut butter with a half cup each of chopped peanuts, chopped almonds, sunflower seed kernels, pumpkin seed kernels, bran cereal, ground flax, and rolled oats to put on my bananas or apple slices. If I'm not doing the Daniel Fast, I also include cocoa powder.
***Addition of Almond milk to the smoothies makes it a much richer and fuller drink.
Tea - Hot or Iced.
The Decaf Lipton Teas and Decaf Celestial Seasonings tea that are natural, that are great for the Daniels fast. If you are coffee drinker the teas will replaced it in the mornings while you are doing the fast. You can use herbs when you are cooking with beans. You can sweeten it with honey.
All fruit juices that are 100% with so sugar added.
Juicing of all fruits and vegetables is acceptable. You can look online for many recipes that include fruits and vegetables.
